Trailblazing collaborative efforts by local governments across Southeast Florida—plus a high level of public support—have created a strong foundation for regional resilience efforts. Without the innovative, adaptive planning that’s happening across the region, sea level rise would threaten Southeast Florida’s built environment, water supply, natural resources, agricultural sector, and economy. The Southeast Florida Regional Climate Change Compact plays an important role in harnessing solutions and creating bipartisan action. According to the article’s author, Harvey Ruvin, now is the time to build on this bipartisan support to build intergovernmental funding mechanisms for these solutions.
