Resilience Dialogues, a project launched in late 2015 to help communities reduce their climate-related risks and build community resilience, has facilitated online dialogues for communities across the country, including in Southeast Florida. Hallandale Beach participated in the program to better understand the potential risks associated with beach erosion, flooding, and saltwater intrusion. With the help of a facilitator from the Institute for Sustainable Communities, the Hallandale Beach dialogue—which brought together 18 participants from the city, businesses, nonprofits, and the federal government—captured a list of communication, implementation, planning, networking, and education tools to help the city shape an effective five-year sustainability plan.
